Inc Magazine names Holganix LLC as one of the fastest growing, privately held companies in America

When life gives you lemons, make compost tea!

In 2009, Barrett Ersek and Dave Thompson were happy.  Their Chester County, PA based lawn care company had reached over $10 million in revenues, was gaining market share, and they had a stocked warehouse ready for the upcoming application season.   Life was good.  But suddenly, when their entire fertilizer inventory went up in flames, they were faced with many obstacles and decisions.  One of those decisions—whether to carry on or not--was really not up for debate, because great leaders turn adversity into opportunity.

Barrett and Dave looked at this adversity as an opportunity to “start over” and decided to make a big change.  Faced with the fertilizer fire and increased environmental pressure regarding the use of synthetic fertilizers, Barrett and Dave decided to look for an alternate means to grow beautiful grass.  That’s when they discovered the science behind 100% organic compost teas.  Armed with this new found knowledge and a partnership with Head Scientist/Inventor Stephen T. Lange, they created their new product, Holganix!

Holganix is old school biology spun into the modern world to allow synthetic products to work more effectively at greatly reduced rates and has changed the way lawn care providers, golf course superintendents, sports field maintenance crews and homeowners care for their grass. It is a game changer!

Fast forward five years and Barrett and Dave are happy again.  Their company, Holganix, was selected as #186 of the Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Companies in the US.  Their healthy, food-grade probiotic products are like “yogurt for your lawn” and contain living microorganisms that are found naturally in soil and work together to provide the ideal conditions to grow strong roots and healthy plants.  Holganix can replace up to 75% of the synthetic fertilizers traditionally used for similar results.  This is welcome news for our vulnerable waterways, as they often receive the brunt of synthetic fertilizer runoff, resulting in algae blooms, dead zones and non-drinkable, non-habitable water.

In addition to growing strong roots and beautiful grass, Holganix is committed to providing value beyond its products by helping its customers grow their businesses.  The Bionutritional Summit, presented by Holganix for the third year, is a complimentary conference offered to lawn care company owners and provides insight to better their marketing, sales and operations.  At Holganix, it truly is about growing roots, minds and businesses!
