"There are 12,000 synthetic turf fields across America," says Jared Minnick, Founder of Growing Innovations, a natural turfgrass consultancy firm. "At some point over the course of turf history, we gave up on grass. We believed that natural grass fields just couldn't take the pressure and stress that athletic fields are expected to maintan." At the end of the day, it's not the field's fault; it's the management's fault. The field can't take more... because it isn't maintained the right way.
"If you do what you've always done, you'll get the results you've always gotten," reminds Jared. "You can't maintain your field today, the same way you did in the 80's. And yet, that's exactly what we, field managers are doing!"
