Studies Support Crop Benefits of Holganix Bio 800+

From corn to soybeans, to produce and specialty crops, Holganix Bio 800+ products have been used on dozens of crop types across the U.S. and Canada. Because the health and vitality of your crops and soil is of the utmost importance to us, we put Holganix Bio 800+ products to the test.

Watch the 7-minute video to the left for an overview of our third-party research studies, featuring Holganix President of Agriculture, David Stark, Ph.D., and keep on scrolling for additional information.

Corn: Reducing Fertilizer Requirements, Increasing Yield, Boosting Rooth Growth

Overall, data shows a yield increase of 3-to-22 bushels per acre, with typical results in the 6-to-11 bushel per acre range. Additional benefits demonstrate improved root growth and a reduction in fertilizer requirements by 10-30% in year one of using the product. Researchers used a rate of 0.5 gallons per acre at or close to planting.

Iowa Third-Party Research Data

Researchers in Iowa tested corn using Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture at 5%, 10%, and 20% fertilizer reductions. Fertilizer reductions were taken at pre-plant or at planting. The researchers still showed a net yield gain even at 20% fertilizer reductions over the check.

Agronomy 365 Research Data

Third-party research from Agronomy 365, out of Wessington, SD and Spring Grove, MN, demonstrates 3-11 bushel per acre yield gains over the controls with high percentage wins.

Missouri Third-Party Research Data

Researchers saw a 21.1 bushel per acre increase in 2017 and a 10.4 bushel per acre increase in 2018. No fertilizer reductions were made. According to the researchers, the Holganix corn was the “best looking corn plot on the farm.”

Soybeans: Reducing Fertilizer Requirements, Increasing Yield, Boosting Root Growth

Overall, data reports a typical yield increase of 2-to-6 bushels per acre when using Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture at a rate of 0.5 gallons per acre, at or close to planting. Additional benefits show improved root growth and much better nodulation.

Missouri Third-Party Research Data

A Missouri research farm testing the product over two years saw a 3.2 bushel per acre increase in 2017 and a 3.3 bushel per acre increase in 2018. The researcher used Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture at a rate of 0.5 gallons per acre in-furrow, with their standard fertility, while the check plots only used the standard fertility mix. As a note, the research farm was non-irrigated and in 2018 the farm saw severe drought.

Iowa Third-Party Research Data

Third-party research data from Iowa demonstrated a ~5 bushel per acre advantage over the check and 130-acre field average. A competitor provided the researchers with 7 different products compared to using just Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture. According to the researcher, he “called the results a flop” with the competitor program. Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture outperformed the competitor for a much lower price and much easier application.

South Dakota 2022 Soybean Trial

Third-party research data from South Dakota demonstrated a ~7.6 bushel per acre advantage over the check. According to the researcher, the conditions were very dry

Wheat: Reducing Fertilizer Requirements, Increasing Yield, Boosting Root Growth

Data shows a 2-to-18+ bushel per acre yield increase over the control when using Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture, at a rate of 0.5 gallons per acre, at or close to planting. Additional benefits show improved root growth and a reduction in fertilizer requirements by 10-30% in year one of using the product.

Third-Party Research Data

Holganix partnered with third-party researchers to evaluate Holganix Bio 800+ performance on 5,000 acres of winter wheat across 37 locations, spanning 7 states, from Oklahoma to Ohio.

  • Eight locations were treated with Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture at 0.5 gallons per acre at planting in the fall. The fall-treated locations saw 88% wins over the control.
  • Twenty-four locations received spring applications at 0.5 gallons per acre when the crop began growing again. The spring-treated locations saw 79% wins.
  • Five locations received both a fall and spring application and saw 100% wins.

For many major AgTech companies, a product is deemed commercially viable if the win total % exceeds 70%. A 79% win would be viewed as a strong result, while 88% or 100% would be viewed as exceptional.

Montana Third-Party Research Data

Researchers out of Montana using Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture via a spring application saw a 4-5 bushel per acre advantage, which translated to a $26-30 return per acre.

Potatoes: Higher Yield, Larger Size, Less Fertilizer

Data shows higher yield and larger-sized potatoes over the control when using Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture at a rate of 1 gallon per acre, at or close to planting. Additional benefits show a reduction in fertilizer requirements by 10-30% in year one of using the product.

Washington State University, Idaho and North Dakota Researchers

A compilation of data from Washington State University, and commercial grower data from Idaho and North Dakota, demonstrates a high yield increase and a shift to higher payable yield when using Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture on russet and red potatoes. When a 20% fertilizer reduction was made, similar results were still seen by the grower.

Berries: Higher Yield, improved Brix

Below we look at yield and brix improvements in multiple berries including blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and grapes. Overall, research demonstrates a yield improvement and an increase in the brix index across multiple types of berries.
