I know the usual marketing strategies like direct mailings, telemarketing and door-to-door sales are going through your head as you start brainstorming for your 2013 marketing plan, but don’t be afraid to think outside the box. In addition to all of the tried-and-true tactics to roping in customers, another great tool to utilize is RSVP-type mailings. These are coupon mailings like Clipper or Valpak.

RSVP-type mailings function as a cheap way to market to potential and current customers. As you are picking out zones for your RSVP-type mailing, remember to focus on your golden streets. These streets/neighborhoods are where your most profitable customers live… right next to their equally profit-potential neighbors. By focusing your RSVP-type mailings on zones that include your golden streets, you increase your chances of getting a response (because their neighbors are your customers, these are the prospects that are familiar with your company).

            Other things to consider when utilizing RSVP-type mailings:

  • Offer a discount or free application to draw out more reluctant customers.
  • Send out more than one mailing. With just one mailing, your response rate may not be ideal.
  • While designing your RSVP-type mailings, think “purple cow” and create a unique layout to get noticed!
